  1. Is there something strange about the way I think that makes me prefer
  2. BLACKBEARD to word processors?  Is it simply that BLACKBEARD does just what I
  3. would expect it to do and does it with a simple mnemonic keystroke, or does
  4. BLACKBEARD make the operator think like BLACKBEARD?  No wonder my mailbox is
  5. stuffed with offers to teach my secretary some well-advertised computer program
  6. or another at a weeklong seminar costing only $999.99 [plus meals, lodging,
  7. transportation, and tips for these ophioleum marketing engineers].  A pox on
  8. computer salesmen!  A viron on computer software salesmen!!  A meme for
  9. independent bitflippers.

  11. Rumors in the shareware business have it that BLACKBEARD is deceased.  I still
  12. use an old version of it because I have set it up to personalize each
  13. distribution copy of my software.  I recommend QEdit and Boxer text editors
  14. now.  Text editors are for authors; word processors are for copyists.

  16. I'd be ashamed to put my name on such an atrocity as the editor in QuickBASIC.
  17. If you are tired of a rudimentary cut-paste-clipboard which all too often sends
  18. your cuts (and finds too!  Abominable) to byte hell, try one of the available
  19. shareware text editors.  Try before you buy.
